After the park, we will visit the Central Museum and have lunch. Next, we will explore the Gurminj Museum of traditional musical instruments.
To experience the vibrant localry life, we will visit the Asian Bazaar, known for its colorful goods, fruits, and vegetables. Throughout the day, you will learn interesting facts about the Tajik people while exploring the main highlights of Dushanbe. The night will be spent at a hotel.
Today, we will embark on a drive to KALAI KHUM VILLAGE.
On the way, we will pass by the NORAK WATER reservoir, often referred to as the Tajik Sea. The highest point of the day will be the Shuraba Pass (2,267 m), marking the start of the drive along the Afghanistan border. This part of the journey will amaze you with its unique mountain landscapes as we enter the territory of THE PAMIR MOUNTAINS. The Pamirs have long inspired explorers like MARCO POLO and HSUAN TSANG, and now you have the opportunity to travel through them as well.
We will drive along the natural border of THE PYANJ RIVER and THE PAMIRS will greet us with their breathtaking white and blue mountains.
The night will be spent at a hotel.
In the morning, we will continue our drive to KHOROG. This small city is surrounded by rocky mountains and is located at the confluence of three rivers:
SHOKHDARA
GHUND
PYANJ
On our way to Khorog, we will have the chance to meet the Pamiri people, who have distinct anthropological features that set them apart from the Tajik people. Many Pamiris have blonde hair, fair skin, and blue eyes. The Pamir Mountains are among the highest in the world with human population, second only to the Himalayas in Tibet. Life in the mountains has shaped the traditions and way of life of the Pamiri people, making them different from the Tajik people.
The night will be spent at a hotel.
After breakfast, we will have a half-day city tour of KHOROG, allowing you to explore the area. The road from Khorog to Kalai Khum is the same as the one we took before. This area is characterized by high rocky mountains exceeding 6,000 meters, and only one road was possible to be built. Passing through the Pamirs, you will not only marvel at the beauty of the untouched environment but also learn about the ethnography, history, and everyday life of the mountain dwellers. The settlements are located in narrow valleys on both sides of the river.
On the other side of the river, you will catch a glimpse of Afghan stony villages and gardens.
The night will be spent at a hotel.
After breakfast, we will drive back to Dushanbe via the mountain road. Our journey will take us over the high KHOBURUBOT PASS (3,252 m), also known as THE WESTERS PAMIR TRACT .
Along the way, you will witness picturesque river valleys and stunning gorges, providing ample opportunities to rest and capture photos of the magnificent mountains and rivers. We will pass through small villages where you can interact with local people. Tajiks are known for their hard work, hospitality, and kindness, and they hold great respect for their traditions and folklore.
This trip offers a unique experience for those seeking cultural diversity, ethnic exploration, and the beauty of wild nature.
The night will be spent at a hotel.
